555-shit

Remember that on t.v. they always use a 555-PIZZA or 555-WHATEVER..? Find out who bought those telephone numbers in reality here. I wonder why there are still fictitious numbers, and why those specificly.. Anyway the story is that the numbers where kept away from the public since they where being used in the media as fake, but now there being sold. here is a link with a collection of 555-fake numbers used on tv and in movies..the so called "fictitious" numbers..
(it seems that the names on the list are only the people that reserved the numbers)

Incidental sculptures

I've been collecting images of situations and incidents (mainly in public space) that look like art. Combinations of street furniture that look like sculpturing. To me it is a kind of appropriation.

Daniel Peacock has an archive to which he asked people to submit these images.

"I notice myself looking for incidents, alignments, coincidences, view points, temporary situations, small things that go unnoticed that should be recorded. I see the work as conceptual observations and ideas not as photography. The image is not as important as the content, the title is as much apart of the work as the photograph."

There's also a Flickr group focussing on these Minor Urban Disasters.

Oliver Laric (editor of the excellent vvork website, and creator of the cliparts video) made a new video to one of his songs. I have been playing his songs a lot this summer, and like them a lot. Allthough his graffitti is only nice in its amateurism, the video is great in simplicity, one idea, no fuss.

concert last night

yesterday i went to see (I even paid, so other people could go free)

most people liked it but i thought it was not that original, nor inspiring. Also I decided to boycot all people that use visuals with vertical lines. This because my computer broke down a few days ago, and the vertical lines image was the last thing it showed me before, probably the graphics card blew itzelf up.

So many people use this as an esthetitcal intervention, or VJ loop, video transitions in commercials..I see it everywhere.

allthough I do appreciate the interactive artwork by Martin Takken from last year, gesamtkunstwerk

to see a great visuals show, just go see cornelius on their next visit to your town, You'll understand why I said this when you see them.

Outlined overpainted grafitti painting

I found it in Slotervaart. It has been overpainted again though...

Also check Derek Stroup for overpainted graffiti paintings (allthough he does it on canvas and not on walls :( ).

Making up a third dimension

Architecture(?) students translated 2 dimensional constructivism paintings into 3 dimensional objects. (I don't think they made them for real, I only see computer generated images...)

A certain Dennis
And a certain Simon

The program Teddy works also in a way that it translates 2 dimensional drawing into 3 dimensional object.

The Hype Machine

A great way of getting legal music without paying is The Hype Machine. Somehow people don't understand how it works so here is a brief explanation:

  1. Goto the hype machine
  2. Type in the search box music you like
  3. You get the search results, then click on the podcast button (the second from the left, next to the winamp button)

  4. Open this link in iTunes
From now on iTunes will automatically download every day music that matches your search result. This way you'll find lots of mashups, covers and remixes.

treadmill painting

after seeing art school confidential, which was another true dissapointment by terry zwigoff ( he made the excellent Crumb documentary which seems to be the work he will never exceed), this clip seems to be quite relevant. The movie made me think of all my bad experiences with art school girls, and the bad retorics of art school teachers. That in itself was funny, but all the energy I got from art school seemed to be lacking. soo anyway, you might aswell just watch this, or look for more public acces tv to get more input.

The new street wear

I'm really into these jackets. i think it would be great to see a bundle of leaves walking down the street. i guess maybe it has something to do with all these cartoons i saw when i was young where people could disguise themselves as a bush of shrubbery to spy and eavesdrop. anyway i'm predicting it won't be long before the hipsters get bored with traditional army/camouflage streetware and go for the real stuff. Just remember, you heard it first on Squeaky F. Found here with lots of other usefull stuff to comfort personal paranoia.
