i hate stupid internet quizes

cause random-good-stuff has a quiz uit to name what this is, and its a contraption to help you put on a condom..and if you guess you get 15 bucks, so everybody with a paypall account refer to this post..

a good question would be: why is the internet up to now only being indexed thru text, and not thru image recognision?

mpthree hour

I just got to Sweet Thunder, they have a found tapes section (favorites 1 2 3)
not onlike the amazing audio kitchen from wfmu (their great blog here)
(my favorites on this page )

Harm sent me to black moth super rainbow
they sound a bit like BS2000 (where the beasties did some good)
favorite is boatfriend (track of today..)
but also titles as I think its beautifull that you are 256 colors too

then finnaly I found (on the sweet thunder site) the music from the great stalacpipe organ
(the largest instrument in the world)
"This most unique, one-of-a-kind instrument was invented in 1954 by Mr. Leland W. Sprinkle of Springfield, Virginia, a mathematician and electronic scientist at the Pentagon. He began his monumental 3 year project by searching the vast chambers of the caverns selecting stalactites to precisely match a musical scale. Electronic mallets were wired throughout the caverns and connected to a large four-manual console. When a key is depressed, a tone occurs as the rubber-tipped plunger strikes the stalactite tuned to concert pitch. "

So zentai is the fetish for body suits, closely connected to the "living doll" phenomenon.
Some people say its a trippy expierence being dressed up like a doll, seing yourself in the mirror and pretending you don't exsist.

So I was checking who tagged squeakyfrom on del.icio.us and found Guthrie Lonergan.
some examples from the site connected here, and here
and some great video's here and here
it is really great in all its wackyness..anti perfection.

I wonder if I'm the only person that carries a fascination for this kind of stuff..(here's a link to my latest tv performance..)

Travis Hallenbeck pointed me to this
I freaked out over the black cherry midi, (that isn't a midi but well)

the trail also led to Your the man now dog..that is featuring al kinds of weird loopy animations,

wonderfull in its lack of any selfrespect! favourite

excorcist furniture

The people that made the moving table on the venice bienale, now made a chair come to life.
I don't get why people with techy stuff have to putt this crappy music under the registrations of their works,
but if you manage to ignore it, or turn of the sound you see that the table and the chair are sweet little inventions.
Although I enjoyed it more remembering the scene in the excercist where the furniture comes to life..

keep on typing

This story neatorama also posted about reminded me of the brother of Robert Crumb (official site here)
who was neuroticly writing scribblings in books (which you can see in terry zwigoff's film)  before he took his own life.

After 16 years at the typewriter, Les Stewart reached his goal of typing all numbers from one to one million - in words (not numbers) on his manual machine... as therapy following an accident and serious illness. Seven manual typewriters, 1000 ink ribbons, 19,890 pages, 16 years and seven months later, he finished with the lines nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine. one million.

brand names defeat death

Since the tragic death of Jeroen de Rijke in Ghana, this seems to be a morbid cheer up to us here in the western world.
The shouting western kapitalism has found it's way to defeat death in a land that deals with death in a completely non western way.
These caskets/coffins seem to be a way of symbolising what the person being burried was about, which ofcourse also happens else where..like here
Make found it via this neatorama..

mini movies

here is a stop motion mini movie ,  made by Aleina. perhaps it should be called "the right sister" refering to her annoying sister who told her flying with DIY wings is not a good idea, but i guess since all these movies were made by fifth graders, they probably just had some lesson about aviation history. anyway her feminist angle on the subject is pretty cool too

The great Jasper van de Brink has always made beautifull poetic works with a simplicity to fall in love with.

In 2003 he made this beautifull bouncing balls video, and ofcourse two years later this beautifull commercial came out for the sony bravia using the same idea...

(here is a link to the behind the scenes story from on BB )

anyway, also check out Jasper's other work here,

suit is currently out of stock, so you'll have to make it yourself.
But they also have my favourit dog suits in stock, that make a dog look like a tiny person with a dog's face that is dressed up for carnaval, by adding fake arms at the shoulders of the dog.

art turned into a car commercial once again

Hopefully Peter Fischli and David Weiss got tons of money from Honda,
(appearently not though, and i can't find out how it really ended although the story is from 2003)

because honda had a commercial out that was just like their "der lauf der dinge".
(which I always concidered to be a common idea movie, but the commercial doesn't only copy the idea)

here you can find the commercial (2003)
and here you can find a trailer from the original film (1987)

just to say you have to get used to your ideas getting stolen

Big things

When i was in Australia , i used to love these "big things" they have there on the side of the road. This site has them all indexed. One of the more famous land marks is the Big Merino , a very ugly and tall concrete statue. But as far as big things go, the merino actually has some credibility, much better are the really sad big things . some of my favourites are:

the Big Potatoe

The big Orange:

 The big Fruitbowl

but i also like the Big lobster ,the  Big Guitar (which apparently actually works) , and the big Wave
