doctor who and the KLF..

(I have to admit I even liked the latest series of doctor who episodes...)

And now I finally got hold of this great video clip of the KLF / timelords...

that was their numer 1 hit, and the basis for their manual on how to have a number one hit
The Austrian Eurotrash band Edelweiss, who read the book, borrowed ABBA's "S.O.S.," and sold five million copies worldwide with "Bring Me Edelweiss".
here is some more info on the song, and the infamous KLF..
here is even some info on the car used in the clip.

the nice thing about doctor who is the DIY feel on the special fx, and thats commented on in this video quit well.
notice the legs under the dalek (the robot), and the car hitting the one that doesnt move...

also take a look at the other pages about the KLF
and their fans FAQ page
like their great sound gun, that exceeded the one the american army built recently.
The 25,000-watt sonic gun can project sound for around 7 miles, and Jimmy annoyed his Devon neighbours by testing it on Midsummer's Day, 1996. Jimmy said: "I moved to Devon six months ago for a bit of a rest and this is a project I am taking an interest in. I do not see it as music or art." He said that he aimed the gun away from homes and it seemed to have no effect on sheep.

Exenogenesis

i really like this spoken word LP on WMFU. i reminds me of the stuff that was talked about the book "the men that stare at goats". i recently saw the documentary made of the book, which i thought was excellent. basically it is so far out i couldn't be sure if it was a mockumentary or not.

absurd inventions

A while ago I saw two guys riding in an electric wheelchair, so two guys sitting in one chair. It looked amazing cause it looked like they just stole it and they whizzed past giggling creepily. These guys seem to have taken the whole idea another step forward. They also made these great toaster helmets. I think Make should really blog about these guys, an overview of their projects can be found here.

They are part of the dutch Absurd foundation ( these guys have some great reading material on their site, they just had a book published, and are working on a really cool tv program, which i can hopefully blog about later).

By the way, the last one is a huge archive of all these kind of pictures (hundreds). great to keep yourself busy while you have more important things to do.

christopher lambert and yehudi manuhin

what do they have in common?
appearently they look like me..
look look

This thing has been a hype on the internet for a while now, but i really like the principle, not only because it is a medium specific given (it can only exist on the internet). But also because it comes close to a long kept fascination of mine. Sometimes i see a stranger in the streets, and i recognise fascial features. A young white boy can look extremely like Bill Cosby for example..here is an extreme..Anyway, when this happens to me I always want to start collecting pictures of people and compare them. When i see a link in fascial features, I have this idea that these people originated from the same village or something. Offcourse there is a truth in that, and thats why I always stop right there, cause race theory didn't do anybody much good. So now we have computers that will recognise faces and place them in the right categories for us. Hurah...I saw image regognision programmes are also being used to interprete actions and movements of people so a computer can notice somebody leaving a suitcase or a bag in a strange place. When these systems meet, ok ok, I'll stop thinking about it..

casts

Imagine you really get horny from seeing girls that broke a leg, and have it in a cast ( I know, I know, it has to do with dominance, dependancy and stuff, like Man Ray cut of the head of girls in his collages). And now imagine you get so horny by the thought you photoshop your own pictures of girls in casts..like this guy did, he took pictures from magazines and pasted casts on the girls..

Man Ray was any way busy with lots of stuff in the same field of braces, and bondage ofcourse..

thank god Man Ray wasn't a lazy guy with a copy of photoshop.
melanie has a great bondage series that you should check out if you haven't yet..
By the way, here are some pictures of animals in casts..

just to warm you up for this upcoming show.
if you like it, check out this last internet hype thing, that is the follow up of the now sadly not anymore excisting cat-scans..now only to be found on flickr..

brace yourself

The cold alienating steal coming out of sombody's head when wearing a "halo" brace always freaked me out.
I guess it has to do with the contrast of the machine/robot assosiation and your own perception of self/body.
maybe thats why I haven't been to the dentist for years..and i neuroticly brush my teeth to avoid the steal of the needle entering my mouth.
I mean thats what I use to taste food and beer, talk to friends with cheer them up, express my inner most thoughts with..and even kiss lick and bite with. So not to mention steal coming out of my head..But still the contrast is super fascinating and inspiring. I even know people that get turned on by it..(don't forget about Cronenberg's Crash, way more interesting then the Crash that just won the Oscar for best movie) Anyway, I just bumped into a few sites for people in braces, so they can use the internet to feel less of an outsider. (just like you probably..) I found some great pics, and the links on the site lead me to more knowlidge of this fettish..

Cool Robot

This robot clip is pretty cool. possible uses could be carrying wounded soldiers across uneven terrain but to me it looks like two robots entagled in a headpushing contest and the back robot is winning.

Harvey Sid Fisher

Wow! now for something i can really get excited about. Some one has posted All of HArvey Sid Fisher's astrology songs on youtube (where else) i first heard his work on a cassete tape my friend Zee made for me years ago. despite being highly entertaining, it is also quite unexpectedly a crash course in astrology. the quote forLibra: I like to disagree, but never disagreeably" hits home. every single line is a gem and so true. i am truely happy i found this !! watch 'm all right here

UPDATE: you can find all the lyrics here, at Harveys website

Bobbejaan schoepen

So i'm quite a big fan of yodeling, and in the world of lowlands yodeling, the now 80 years old, BoBBejaan Schoepen is definitely one of the heros.
This multi talented belgian recorded 100's of tracks and started BobbejaanLand, his own themepark.

I found a cool video of the man in action on his website

for people interested in the secret history of yodeling, i highly recommend this book
by Bart Plantenga who has a weekly radio show on Amsterdam Pirat Radio Patapoe.
it's every Monday at 1700 and is also streamed

robot animal love

check out this movie I got from wouter..

about the tests for the cuddliness factor in robots. Especially the standing picture of the dog is nice, it has a motor to wiggle the tale, and when you pet the fabric lying next to it, the tail wiggles harder..

he also gave me this weird screenshot...
meta, meta! (i hate updates)
